Praxis: A Brief Rhetoric (Act 3.1)

In class English 101 was nice today. Although Ricky and I were a bit late, Professor Mott was very kind enough to go over what we had missed. I got to learn how to comment on an article using Microsoft Word. I did find myself more enthusiastic about commentaries for the article. I used my knowledge and I incorporated it into my comments. I would rather prefer the comments to a
peers work because he/she can have an idea what I'm interpreting what they are writing about. That way it is a guide used for them to improve on their work. I like to help my peers through their
writing, because I would like to know if my writing is being read the way I want it to be read. Well
then it goes for professionals as well. No one is prefect. I think they would like that as well. That is
why they practice and improve on their mistakes, which makes them where they are as of now.

BMW Advertisement Criticism

Social, moral, and economic criticism are shown as a way to interpreting specific messages around the world. By messages, I mean by magazine advertisements. For an English assignment, I had to interpret two magazine advertisements. The advertisements are both by the same auto company, BMW.

The first magazine of the BMW is this:

One important key factor is that since the ad is about automobiles then why isn't there one in the photo. It is by a used automobile shop of BMWs. The ads criticism is obvious, they are social and moral. An example of social criticism is the woman seems to be a sex-appeal to the audience. Maybe if you sleep with this woman, you will get a nice BMW or if you buy a BMW then you will get women. An example of moral is the caption of this ad, "You know are not the first." The advertisements are comparing her to sex and used cars. Used cars are still in good condition, making used women are still good too. Seems bad to see it that way. I also found there is economic criticism as well. Advertising her like that will be good business for the company. Hoping that their ad is true by their standards.

The second ad is this:

What I got from this ad is social and economic. West Hills college is a supporter of BMW vehicles. An example of economic criticism is how much money you will spend in the differences of to colleges. West Hills is cheaper than going to a university. The audience is for college students or planning to go to college. The advertisements sums the money up and elaborate that you can spend all the saved money on something else, a car. Another example of economic is the time is worth the students money. Social comes into play because every college student needs a car and its looks like a good investment. The advertisement made the car be a necessity than a luxury. The students face is confident that he spend that money for a car. Which helps the advertisement for the audience. Another example of social is that the students need to put into consideration if their tittles of a curriculum of a school is good too.

Figuring out how to interpret ads and common things like that makes you wonder how weird and cruel the rest of the world is. Its to where that point people need to realize the little things. To me it is funny because its where it all makes sense. Everything has a connection whether you realize it or not.

A little something about yours truly.

Hello there darling. My name is Stephanie A. My parents are from Guatemala, which makes me Guatemalan American. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. I have a little sister by the name of Morgan and she is adopted. She is everything to this family, making our stormy skies become clear. My birthday is on January 21st.

I graduated from Sultana High, Class of 2012. I attend at Victor Valley College as a full time student. I work as a part-time night custodian in some banks. Pretty interesting with that vault in your face while no one is around;).

My accomplishments are graduating from high school and being part of senior favorites in my high school year book. I got nominated as "Most Likely to Brighten Up Your Day". Its funny because the students who get nominated into it are the popular kids and I wasn't that popular, just a girl going to school and making people smile. So becoming that was amazing and will always be in the yearbook, forever.

I want to major in Nursing with a Bachelors, by doing so I will transfer to Cal State San Bernardino. After receiving that I will join the army as a Nurse and save up to go back to school to earn a PhD in Neurology. My goal is to become a doctor as a neurologist but in time I will get there. With my biggest supporter by my side is my handsome fiancee Ricky Weidl.

Ricky gifted me the best pet I can ever ask for. It is a Desert Sulcata Tortoise and goes by the name of Franklin. He is only 1 year and a half, still a baby. He is the size of a persons palm. I like that the fact that Franklin will outlive us, really awesome.
My favorite colors are nude and pastel. Those colors make me feel all soft and giving me butterflies inside.

Dressing up as a Pin Up became my lifestyle. I love every minute of it. Just like how Ricky is a SteamPunk Gentleman. Would love to become a Pin Up model, just need that luck. I love Oldies but Goodies and all the real music back in the day. Where there was class and sophistication, unlike now a days, just a shame.

My hobbies are to read, swim, draw, ART, dance, spend time with my family and with Ricky.
My favorite quote is "Live your life and forget your age" by Norman Vincent Peale. To me, people at a certain age makes them feel like they have to stop and act as their age. But why conform to it, when life has so much in store and it is endless.

Thank you<3
